A listed source does not apply to every contractor, trade, municipality, agreement or project.
Consumer starting point for estimates, written terms, deposits, changes, permits, and contracts. Recommendations and general guidance must not be restated as universal legal conclusions.

The Consumer Protection Act, 2023 has been passed but is not in force; it replaces this Act on a day set by proclamation, so each review rechecks which Act applies. Do not classify an agreement, determine a remedy, or give cancellation/estimate advice without qualified application review.

Not all complaints are posted, so absence is never a clean-history finding, and presence is time-boxed.

Open Electrical Safety Authority source ↗HCRA's directory of new-home builders and sellers: licence status, years of activity, homes built, and regulatory actions including conduct concerns, charges and convictions. Ordinary home renovations are not automatically within its scope.

Amendments came into force on January 1, 2026 (Order in Council 1523/2025), so which rules apply depends on contract and project dates. Applicability, transition, payment, lien, holdback, trust, completion, and deadline questions require qualified Ontario legal review.
